more Detailed information
- This site is 7200 m2 (90m x 80m).
- Almost half the site dries at LAT with heights between 0m and 3m. The remainder of the site slopes with varying steepness to 7m depth at LAT.
- The slipway is 66.5m wide and can be accessed by the 160ft boast hoist operated by Mainstay Marine Solutions.
- At the end of the concrete slipway is a gravelly muddy beach, which gets increasingly muddier further offshore.
- The west of the site is bordered by the Carr Jetty – an arched bridge structure which creates tidal flow across the site during peak flows (current speed between arches TBC).
- Metocean conditions at the site are consistently benign, with maximum tidal currents of <1 knot (0.5m/s) and very limited wave exposure.
Our Quayside test sites
Our quayside test sites provide an easy access, low risk area to test marine energy equipment.
They allow you to effectively monitor and evaluate performance tests, easily adjust device parameters and retrieve equipment quickly – meaning you can repeatedly deploy at low cost and learn lessons quickly.
