The Mainstay Quay site, sometimes referred to as META Site 2, is adjacent to Site 1 (Carr Jetty) to the east.

- A large majority of this site dries at LAT, mostly to 1m, with an area drying to 2m in the south-eastern corner
- The remainder of the site slopes to a depth of 5m.
- The seabed is thought to be muddy throughout the site
- The site encompasses a wet basin with multiple attachment points, including pontoons.
- It can be accessed via a railed slipway which can be used by 2 x 6 tonne gantry cranes.
- The site can also be accessed by quayside crane or boat.
- Metocean conditions at the site are consistently benign, with max tidal currents of <1 knot (0.5m/s) and very limited wave exposure.
