Secondary school pupils in Pembrokeshire recently attended a workshop with a difference to learn all about the renewable energy sector.

Wales’ Marine Energy Test Area (META) and Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum (PCF) hosted the event at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.

During the session, pupils learned all about the META project and about women working in the renewable energy sector from KR Wind Turbine Ltd. They also had the chance to set up and deploy the META Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in the swimming pool.

The pupils, who attended from Milford Haven School, all have a keen interest in engineering and potential future careers in the renewable energy sector.

The session, which was organised as part of PCF’s Coastal Challenge Days project, offered students an insight into how an ROV works and what it can be used for.
