site user(s):
PEBL, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult & Ocean OS
technology tested:
Remote Marine Biodiversity Monitoring Systems
sites used:
East Pickard Bay – an energetic wave energy and FLOW component test site.
Dale Roads – a moderate wave energy site, shallower and more sheltered.
duration of deployment:
Eight months between February 2024 and September 2024.
test aims:
This deployment set out to demonstrate novel marine biodiversity monitoring equipment designed to improve observation capabilities at offshore renewable energy sites.
test outcomes:
The insights gained will inform the environmental management of the META sites as well as demonstrating the potential for PEBL’s scalable, non-intrusive monitoring systems that can be used at offshore renewable energy sites, so any impacts can be understood and mitigated.
