The Dale Roads site is located towards the mouth of the waterway and is exposed to south-westerly waves.

- The Dale Roads site is designated for scaled wave devices and offshore energy component testing.
- The site is located towards the mouth of the waterway and is exposed to south-westerly waves.
- The site is square – 450m x 450m (195,600m2) and has a sandy seabed with some exposed reef.
- it is a flat site with the majority of it being 9-10m deep, shallowing to 6m near the shore.
- A year of wave data was collected at the site in 2020 using a ‘Datawell Waverider MkIII’.
- The mean significant wave height at the site was 0.648m and the average peak period 8.94 seconds.
- The dominant wave direction is from South Southwest.
